The Ventriloquist & Scarface

Batman villain Arnold Wesker carves the face of his alter/dissociative identity, Scarface.
I thought of him when I combined the Illustration Friday word "Strings" with the Drawforce Blog Mission: "Gotham Wild Card".
I guess that technically ventriloquist dummies aren't on strings like some puppets, but you get the connection.

Sketch

Here's my original sketch for the piece I did of Swampthing vs. Audrey 2.
Just felt like I should post something. :)

Illustration Friday: Hide

A little skunk trying to hide the fact that he's a skunk. For what purpose, and to what end? One can only imagine the possibilities. :)

Illustration Friday: Communication

The idea here is communication with the dead.
It's something I do all the time.

Illustration Friday: Gravity

Galileo and Sir Isaac Newton perform a Gravity experiment off the leaning tower of pisa (not shown).
In the audience are Marie Curie, Sigmund Freud, Benjamin Franklin, Niels Bohr, Aristotle (center), Einstein, Bill Nye, and Charles Darwin.

You may be wondering why I would include Bill Nye. Well... I had to include Bill Nye... I mean... He's THE Science Guy. And doesn't it seem like an experiment he would do on his show. Except he'd use a bowling ball instead of an Iron shot put.
I almost put Bunson and Beaker from the muppets also, but I thought that would be too much.

The only question is which will land first the 12 pound shot put, or the apple? Do you know your gravity? :)

Illustration Friday: Crash!

Vince and Larry have a little encounter with good-ol' McGruff.
I figure they were both invited to speak at the same assembly at a public school and, unavoidably, the following ensues.
CRASH!

And don't forget to take a bite of of crime and always buckle your safety belt!
:)

Illustration Friday: Red

I chose to do a bright red firetruck. Ooo-ya!
Completed in illustrator and photoshop. Made to look like a cut-paper illustration.

When I started I had line on the truck, but I realized it would cover the edges of the "cut-paper" and thus defeat the purpose of the cut-paper style. But I like how the truck looked with line (what can I say? I'm big on line), so here's kinda what it looked like.

Illustration Friday: Super Hero

Done entirely in adobe illustrator. Gotta love good ol' vector art. :)

I originally did this one, but it wasn't turning out how I had hoped. The hands were my favorite part, and the head was bugging me, so I cropped it. Which in turn gave the image a more conceptual feel.

Okay... So the comment was made that the first crop focused to much on his butt... which is sorta true. So here's how I should have cropped it (if I should have cropped it at all). In the first one I was constraining the proportions.
Also, someone said it looks like he's wearing a skirt. Maybe I should have put a faint little wedgy line to show that his undies really do go in between his legs, but i think I achieved that with the reflected light on his posterior... a skirt wouldn't form to one's butt quite like that. But... enough about superman's butt.
