The Ventriloquist & Scarface

Batman villain Arnold Wesker carves the face of his alter/dissociative identity, Scarface.
I thought of him when I combined the Illustration Friday word "Strings" with the Drawforce Blog Mission: "Gotham Wild Card".
I guess that technically ventriloquist dummies aren't on strings like some puppets, but you get the connection.

Kung-Fu Komodo

...or maybe Karate Komodo?... Nah...
I really like the Movie "Kung-Fu Panda" so I've had it on the brain lately.
Here's my idea for a Kung-Fu Panda villain. A Kung-Fu Komodo Dragon.

One-Eyed Ogre

You may not have known this, but One-Eyed Ogres are not very good at Whack-A-Mole.
Actually, pretty much anything with one eye would suck at whack-a-mole.
On account of the lack of depth perception and all. :) .)

Ogre In Progress

This is my unfinished take on the latest challenge on the Avalanche Software Art Blog.
They took two images of Joe Olsen's and you were supposed to paint them or do your own take on them.
I picked this image:

Long Time No Tiger?

It's been a while since I put something on here.
I've just been busying moving into an apartment and starting a new part-time job to help pay the bills.
We went to the Zoo on my wife's Birthday, and some of the coolest animals there were the tigers.
So looking through my Zoo pictures I was inspired to do this.

Just for fun...

...let's put the lightning and mer-creature in one awesome picture!
YA!!!!
Hey... it kinda looks like he's licking the lightning. HA!
I think I'll call it "Lickin' Lighting". Sweet.

Electricity

Lightning is great, cause it's just a bunch of squiggly lines. :)

Mer-Creature

REGULAR:

OR, DRIPPING WET:

Not a big difference either way, but I thought if this guy is aquatic, he should be kinda wet. :)

My Museum Display

Yep... That's right. My artwork is on display at the Getty museum in LA.
At least it was; they probably took it down by now. They have a little drawing room where they give you paper and pencils and you choose from a selection of things to draw. And they have a wall where you can pin up your drawing.

As part of our project, we are required to make and hand out invitations to the BFA Show Reception. Here's what I came up with. :)

Scorpion Helicopter

I thought of a helicopter that had four legs instead of landing skids. And then I thought, what if the four propellers on top could come down to form 4 more legs.
Here's a little visual on how it would transform. (Front view).

New Website Underway

Check out the new look of my website... drawnbydave.com

Not that that many people actually saw the old version of it. Anyway... it's now gonna be a lot cooler. Most of it isn't finished yet, but you can go ahead and check out what is up and running (mostly the character and illustration galleries).
And tell all your friends about it too. :)
